Our Food and Our Values
Real Mexican Flavor
Our unique Mexican cuisine features flavors developed by renowned Chef Dudley Nieto in partnership with owner Rosi Peruyero-Noden. An immigrant from Papantla, Mexico, Rosi’s goal is to offer a menu full of traditional Mexican flavors not found in other restaurants. As a result, she and Chef Nieto have focused on traditional recipes from several regions of Mexico. All of our food is made from scratch on site. The standard menu offers a wide range of options – street tacos, tamales, pozole, elotes, churros, empanadas, flan, and other dishes. Keep an eye out each month for our specials that are often recipes from Rosi’s hometown.
Social Justice Taproom
At The Battleground, it is our goal to create a space where a community can gather to share their passion for delicious food – and social justice. As a result, our taproom features Drink Your Values (DYV) craft beers. Some of the profits from each DYV beer we sell at The Battleground support a variety of social justice causes. For instance, our Election Day IPA supports voting rights and voter registration efforts.
We believe in social, racial, and economic justice, so we share our profits from DYV sales with organizations who put these values into action in our community.
The Battleground proudly wears its values on its sleeves. By sharing profits from DYV beer sales, we hope to encourage bold action to address climate change, make universal healthcare a reality, and replace incarceration with drug treatment policies. Please join our community and help to build a more just world for all of us.
